What say you???
Last weeks qualifiers.
Its the nature of the beast . They get them to go early
They have no regard for the equine anymore......The money is good at 2 , so they go after it
Haughton, Beissinger, O'Brien and their philosophy was to race them lightly at 2 and and big years at 3 , but as the money got crazy for 2 year olds, your owners want it. So you do what the rest to do. But they shouldn't race more than 12-15 times at most
My opinion---You're asking for too much too soon and so many hot shot two year olds regress at 3. I don't like this era with regard to the way race younger horses.....and if they are being gassed so young....well it makes the game even worse and worse
Of course everyone goes faster now, so in a way its all relative. Back in the day Charlie Clark ( Vic?) used to abuse them early and often at two and was terribly criticized for his tactics.....He had Whamo Flying Bret and others He trained them very hard at two....They were rarely heard from later on in their careers but that didnt stop him
You cant make them go so fast so quickly without paying the price later on. Its not a natural progression
